Local Governing Board Members
Sue Twells
Chair of Governors (Co-opted)
Sue has been a governor and Chair of governors in a number of Birmingham schools. She worked in all areas of Birmingham as a teacher, headteacher and adviser. Now retired, she volunteers at the National Memorial Arboretum helping young people to understand the importance of remembrance and is a trustee of a small not for profit charity which provides residential learning opportunities for Birmingham children. In her spare time she enjoys walking, travel and discovering local history.
Julie Colvin
Vice Chair - Safeguarding (Co-opted)
Julie has three children, one of whom attends Birches Green Primary School. She works as the office manager at Erdington Academy. In her spare time, she enjoys watching Aston Villa, reading, walking and spending time with her children.
Miss Tiffany Moreton
Staff Governor
I have worked at Birches Green since September 2021. I lead on P.E for the school and manage the Sports Pupil Premium funding. I helped research and design the football pitch and the gym equipment in the playgrounds. I am also the Early Career Teacher Mentor. I support new teachers through the first two years of their teaching career. I hold an National Professional Qualification in Leading Teacher Development.
Taiba Adnan
Governor - Pupil Premium (Co-opted)
Taiba joined Birches Green as a parent governor in 2022 and is now a Co-opted governor. It has given Taiba an opportunity to work and learn from a very experienced and dedicated team. Taiba's educational career includes MSc. Mathematics and BSc (Honours) in Health and Social Sciences Level 3, 4 and level 5. Taiba is currently studying and working as a Language Linguist. Motivated by her local community, Taiba believes our children are our future, this is why she keeps herself engaged with children bringing British Values first.
Joseph Valentine
Co-opted Governor
Joseph Valentine is a parent of a Year 1 pupil and is passionate about supporting the school’s continued success. Because of Joseph's previous experience in school governance, he has been recommended as a co-opted governor. He has been a former Local Authority Governor and contributed to strategic planning, aiming to improve student outcomes. Joseph is committed to supporting our children’s well-being and academic growth by ensuring that the school remains a place where all students can thrive.
Rajia Idris
Parent Governor
Rajia has worked alongside various companies over the years - MET Police, Department For Education as well as working for the DWP. This has given Rajia the skill set to understand the current situation families are facing and the hardships that many people are/have faced.
Rajia believes that the parent governor role is something that is such a vital role and ensures we can give our children the best possible education.
Sarah Hassanzada
Parent Governor
Sarah is an experienced Accounts Assistant and has three children at Birches Green across three of the four phases. Sarah enjoys making a positive contribution to our diverse community.
